Awakening Foundation

One important reason of my trip was to make a research on the social entrepreneurs and  innovative NGOs throughout the countries i will be visiting. Awakening Foundation, initiated by AIESEC members, was a good start for the study. 7 young individuals, all AIESEC alumni, with the enthusiasm of making a change in the world, decided to establish an NGO that work on fixing the obvious gaps of the Indian Education system. I was happy to meet with Ronald, Karthik and Aditya to get to know their organisation and discuss their future plans over nargile.

They are planning to work with public schools mainly at primary and secondary school levels to increase the quality of the education by providing extracurricular activities with the help of local volunteers and international interns provided by AIESEC. They are in contact with many companies which provided positive feedback already and now organizing a Muggle Quidditch Tournament (apparently  a game very well-known among Harry Potter fans) to start up their fundraising mainly with the students of the schools they will be cooperating with.

I was quite happy and proud of seeing AIESEC alumni taking a step and being a change they wish to see in the world (I am a big fan of this statement which was quoted by Mahatma Gandhi himself) and I wish them all the best in their journey.
